A real kicker!
Our son doesn't stop kicking anymore...one stronger than the other. today we went to see the doctor and we are on our 31st week already, which means there is about 7 left for us. Now the visits are bi-weekly and soon will be weekly. Claudia has already gone over the weight limit, but the doctor believes most of her weight is water and this goes away easily after the delivery...it goes on a 4-5 pounds per day!
Also, he said our son may have about 4 pounds and seems to be a little bigger than the average, which can mean, he will be a big boy.
The preparations are going well. Today I assembled the bed and we are only missing the mattresses and some decoration. Next Sunday, Claudia will have her Baby Shower and hopefully we will post some pictures.
During Thanksgiving specials, we bought a camcorder to record our baby once he's here! I will try to post a small film here too.

A consultas sao bi-semanais e logo serao semanais.

Claudia's pictures!
We got some of Claudia's pictures so you can try to imagine how our son may look like! My guess is that he will have a blond-ish hair and probably more of Claudia's traits...At least, that's what happened to me and the opposite to her.

She's always been more of a boyish girl. Always taking high risks and being a tough girl! I wonder how our boy's personality will be...Hopefully he'll take only the good from each of us!
Keeping following us, as the big day is approaching very fast.

Classes are over...
...and hopefully we'll do great when taking care of our son as well as of ourselves! Preparing for a C-Section helped us understand each step of the Great Moment and how to have a great recovery; Baby Care was a little bit of a dissapointment, since they taught us only how to change diapers and bath the baby, which is pretty much easy...the good thing was understanding small signs of a problem to avoid calling the doctor every five minutes; BreastFeeding is the greates and probably most important. There is so much good information on that subject and they're really saving-everybody's life. Breastfeeding is so important that I encourage all women and men to persevere. Never give up and if you're thinking about it, just call your hospital or a lactose group to have some help! Generally, it's very easy to solve, since it's on the mother and the baby's nature to breastfeed!

As aulas acabaram...

Just so you know...
today we did our first pregnancy class: Preparing for a C-Section. It was very interesting and gave us a good idea of what we are going to go through, also it gave me the creeps! Being inside the hospital, listening to doc's talking and so much information to swallow! It makes you feel weak when you actually have to be on your feet for the little fellow!
Yesterday's visit to doctor went fine. The doctor said the baby is fine and he is going to kick less from now on. We shouldn't worry to much! And, you won't believe me, he said that drinking cold liquid or eating sweeties make the baby to move and kick. So, our boy is not addicted to chocolate, he's just a regular boy!
Later I'll post some Claudia's pictures from when SHE was the baby and tell you about our next classes!
So pra voces saberem...
hoje fizemos nossa primeira classe: Preparacao pra Cesareana. Ficar dentro do hospital, ouvindo papo de medico and tanta informacao pra digerir!!!

Parenthesis!
When our son doesn't kick, we put a small flashlight on Claudia's belly and he starts right away as the light my disturb his eyes a little bit, but today Claudia found something "weird".
Well, she has had any chocolates in the past of few days to try to control her weight and the sugar level and this morning she called me saying that this was probably the cause of our son not be kicking so often lately. So I said: Eat one and see if that's true!
She just called me saying that after eating a couple of chocolate cookies, he started kicking and hasn't stopped since then...
Wattaboy!
Parentesis!

More concerned as we get closer!
Tomorrow Claudia will have her next visit to the doctor as she is 29 weeks pregnant now. She has scheduled her baby shower to Dec 3rd and we have so many things to prepare - not only the baby's, but at our work and at our regular life - that we don't know where to start from. I'll probably work the next two weekends and still have to buy a bed, a change table and the mattresses to have our boy's room ready. Later on, we'll have to buy the small things, such as the infant seat and a cart and of course, become a member of the Diaper's Club!
Claudia felt some cramps yesterday and Sunday and was concerned because our son has been kicking as often as he was. She even cried today and was scared...but then he kicked again showing to her he was only sleeping! Anyways, tomorrow she'll ask the doctor to perform an extra ultra-sound or she won't leave his office! Here in the U.S they usually perform only 2 ultra-soundthroughout the entire pregnancy and in South America almost one per month. I can't go with her tomorrow, but on Thursday, Saturday and next Monday we'll have C-Section, Breastfeeding and Baby Care classes at the hospital. I'm looking forward to them...as this may be my way of starting sensing this pregnancy and my son closer! I'll keep you posted

Pregnancy effects: It can happen with anyone
So, yesterday Claudia went back to the doctor to have the 3-hour glucose test and finally they got it right! I mean, the dumb-ass who did it, still was unpolite, but that isn't something you learn at college, but at home, right?
Now, the most wired thing happened to Claudia. Have you ever heard that pregnant women can have leg cramps more often than ever. Claudia's had some already, but yesterday when she was parking the car her leg snapped and she couldn't hold it to step on the brake. So, it went straight to some bushes next to the lot. A dent on the car later and another few minutes of pain, everything was fine again. At least that happened when she was parking (almost stopping) and she didn't hit another car, but the bushes!
Now, we're a little bit worried of having her driving for a long time and increased the intake of bananas, just in case!

Rogerio & Claudia

One crib, an extra exam and no name!
After working 12 hours per day last week, and some few hours Saturday and Sunday, we could move ahead on our plan to have our son's bedroom ready. Saturday morning Claudia went to prepare the list of her Baby Shower that will be on December 3rd and on Sunday we went to Sawgrass and finally found a crib that would fit in our taste, space and wallet! Yes, we did buy our son's crib and it took me only 40 minutes to assemble it. Today Claudia went to do an extra glucose test, because according to the nurse her first one showed the result a little bit higher. The problem was that she was supposed to be fasting for 12 hours and should run the 3-hours test. However, she got at the clinic right on time but had to wait another extra hour to be seen by somebody. When the lady came she gave her the glucose to do a 1-hour test instead of a 3-hour. Claudia noticed her mistake and let her know, but there was nothing else she could to do fix and just asked her to go back tomorrow - as if Claudia had everyday available for those dumb-asses. The nurse didn't even bother to apologize and Claudia was so pissed off that she called me. So I left 3 mean messages and the supervisor nurse called me back all worried and apologetic and asked IF she could go and that she was very very sorry...yadayada. Also she said that the extra hour is common because they have to check the patient chart prior, which is funny because if they had done that they should know what type of exam Claudia was there for, right? Apologies accepted and we hope tomorrow they give her a better treatment. For those who ask, our son is still nameless...and I think he will be until the day he is born!

Rogerio & Claudia
