Sick during pregnancy

Claudia's got the flu and yesterday her entire body was aching. She sneezes every five minutes and her belly aches with that too. Each sneeze is like a punch on her belly. I wonder how the baby's feeling...
The bad side of getting sick during pregnancy is that women cannot take any kind of medication and the only one allowed is a not so strong one, which may delay her recovery.

And, the hurricane never became a hurricane. It was more like a nice pouring rain and it's gone.
This weekend we're going to Orlando with some friends with the intention of getting out of our daily routines and going to a water park, if weather permits!

Don't forget! Next week: Sep 6th, we will have an ultra-sound to learn our baby's gender...keep on following up!

Love to all!

E o furacao nunca virou furacao!

Windy week
We're on our 18th week now. The baby is always kicking and Claudia is feeling some pain on her lower abdomen due to a normal stretching of the ligaments on that area.

Also, we may have a windy week since Hurricane Ernesto is coming towards our area. Forecast says it is going to be a weak hurricane, but still...after last year and so many hurricanes, all we want is some bonanza! Nothing bad is gong to happen to us, but just in case you don't hear from us, it could be we're out of electricity for a couple of days!

---------------------------------------

Semana agitada

------------------------------------

September 6th, 2006

This is when our next doctor's appointment is, which we - supposedly - will learn our baby's gender. Keep on following and sending your comments!

Look at this! Isn't she the most beaufitul mother? If you want to compare, just go back a couple of months and you'll see the difference!
The only bad thing with this belly is that sleeping may not be as easy as it's always been. Finding a comfortable position for her, may not be for the baby and vice-versa...
All she wishes was she could sleep during the day too!
Be ready: Soon we will have a date of when the baby's gender may be revealed!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Vejam so!

The baby has really started kicking. There has not passed a day this week he/she didn't kick at least once. That just reminds me that he or she may not be a big soccer fan as his/her father is as well as make some good choices for him/her. On the soccer matters the choice is made: Just look at Palmeiras apparel Lucas gave to him. By the way: Lucas is a little young fellow whose soccer's team is Palmeiras. We saw he being born and now he's already 1 year old.
Besides that, we already started buying furnitures. This week, a new computer desk to make room for the baby's bedroom...Also we started researching baby's bedroom furniture and we are not sure whether we buy a convertible crib - the ones who grow with your kid until he/she is a toddler - or a regular one and then later buy a real bed. What would you think?

Geez!! Claudia is really pregnant...you won't believe how her belly is popping out!
By the way; It must not be easy to be pregnant, I mean for women. Just so you know, the woman body goes through a lot of changes. Hormones, Fatigue, Cravings, Some pain, vomiting are the most commom, but it's always good to remind you about the 100-times-a-day need for peeing and not having control about that, how hard it is to sleep in a comfortable position, let alone her pshycological changes: "There might be some many thoughts going around now."

Thanks God, I'm the father....It sounds much easier from this side of the bed!

A.N.D.: Thank you my beloved mother for going through this without giving up on me!

Anyway, the real changes are appearing day by day. Last Saturday we went to research some options for the baby's bedroom and she felt a huge pain on her belly, as if somebody was kicking her. The belly was as hard as a rock too.

When we arrived back at home, while flipping channels, on Discovery Channel there was this beautiful documentary about pregnancy and its phases, so we - of course - watched it. The funny thing was that they said that the baby starts playing with its first toy - umbilical cord - on his/her 16th week, which is exactly the one we're now. So, I guess there was A REAL SOMEBODY kicking her... Now the real changes are going to start: This kid's presence in our life forever!

Meu!

-------
We've had our 3rd doctor's visit today. Nothing interesting, though.
Clau is 15 weeks and 3 days pregnant and the doctor just listened to our baby's heart beat and asked some blood work to detect possible genetic problems, such as Down Syndrome. All simple routine! The visit took 10 minutes and the next one only on the first week of September.

Claudia was a little bit disappointed as she's very anxious to find out the baby's sex and start shopping appropriately. The doctor said only from the 20th week on they'll see that. What can we do? Another month wondering...
In the meantime while we have another month to go we’ve already started thinking and getting ideas on how to organize and what theme to do the baby’s room, and not forgetting where we’re going to place our current baby…..The computer!!!!

Her belly is developing rather quickly but she’s getting more beautiful as each day passes by. Slim women are beautiful, but pregnant women are absolute!

Above you see Hollywood Beach where we went last Sunday.

A Clau diz:

----------
Our life is on a where-we-go-we-only-see-kids phase. Life is phased out, I guess. Most of our friends have little kids or are on their way to do so. Today we went to a barbecue at Magal's place and there was 2 boys and 4 girls and our conversation was always about them. Their stories, their fears, their habits!

Obviously, that on the street or wherever we are we notice the kids more than ever and we start wondering about how ours is going to look like. I say: - If it is a girl, it will be blond as her father. Clau doesn't agree and says: - It's going to have my hair. Black and straight. Now, when we think about a boy, it seems automatic that it would look like the father.
The important would be that he or she doesn't take after her dad's high blood pressure heritage nor to her mother's allergies to everything.

Oi pessoal:

Hi all:
This week Clau's allergies are driving her crazy. Runny nose, sneezing all the time and she's starting to lose her patience. She could take some medicine, but not everyday. Besides, that she dreamed again about the baby's sex. Again, a boy with chubby cheeks. Last Monday or Tuesday (?) a little bump appeared on her belly. Since the baby's too small to be felt, that could be gas, but according to babycenter.com, the baby starts moving and kicking on its 7-8 weeks, but the mother cannot feel because the baby's little legs and arms are too small and weak to reach her. Anyway, it's been good to wonder about how the baby is starting to present itself.
Some times, when Claudia is feeling uncomfortable I talk to the baby and then she starts to feel better. Either the baby already senses me or Claudia feels more secure when I do this!

Love to all:
Rogerio & Claudia

P.S.: Special thanks to Rakhi who's been following the blog - perhaps, because she might be feeling her motherhood time is near - and pointing out my mistakes.
